Have you ever think how idea of Netflix came and it grow ?

The CEO of Netflix Wilmot Reed Hastings Jr. said in a interview that idea of Netflix came in their mind after having to pay $40 in late fees for returning a movie late.

Have you ever think why Netflix is still using the Amazon AWS Cloud even after Amazon is a competitor of Netflix as Amazon have their Amazon prime video ?

There are so many shows which the users watch it on Netflix ,

if Netflix start constructing its own datacenter , just imagine how many datacenter will it require. We can only imagine the cost for building the infrastructure.

Secondly for the continuation of the datacenter it will also require prodigious amount of workers. This in turn will also require enormous amount of money.

Thirdly for the proper running of the datacenter it will require skilled professionals. That will also require huge amount of money.

Lastly they will also need backups. For that they will also have to maintain proper backups for each & every data.

Why to invest in all these ?

Instead Netflix can have a deal with AWS & save all of these cost. And more importantly by having the deal with AWS , Netflix can focus on their core business & leave it to AWS for dealing with these kind of stuffs.

Netflix uses AWS for nearly all its computing and storage needs, including databases, analytics, recommendation engines, video transcoding, and more — hundreds of functions that in total use more than 100,000 server instances on AWS.

Netflix is the number one video streaming service on the entire planet as of 2018 and the amount of infrastructure it takes to serve video continuously to over 190 countries with minimal latency (no lag) requires intensive compute time. As AWS have very large network over the globe , they have 24 launched region , 77 Availability Zones , Largest Cloud Provider , having network in 245 Countries and Territories and 205 edge location make AWS a great platform to start the business and Netflix used that that platform .

Netflix is growing and running their business very fast and smoothly because one of main region is AWS cloud infrastructure . Netflix was one of the very first companies to move their infrastructure over to AWS, and have since pioneered many of the common architectural patterns for designing products on AWS.

The cost to run your own data center involves paying for a location, construction, staffing, security & disaster recovery across the globe , Managing and fronting the cost for physical data centers is a very costly and time consuming endeavor. Renting this capacity, virtually, from AWS is a faster way to get to market and a cheaper way to run a cloud business.

AWS plays a great role to grow many other big to small companies and mostly STARTUP which doesn't have so much resources to run their business , AWS provides them their own resources to run and provide them great network across the Globe at very low price .
